Since 19 March 2026 the prices have not moved but the packs have shrunk: $8.99 now buys 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000, and $89.99 buys 12,500 instead of 13,500. The best rate is the 12,500 pack at 139 V-Bucks per dollar; the worst is the Exact Amount Pack at 51. The calculator below prices any amount and picks the packs for you.

Enter the V-Bucks you want and it finds the cheapest packs, or enter a budget to see what it buys. Turn on Epic Rewards if you are buying on PC, mobile or the web.
1,000 V-Bucks costs
$12.95
before sales tax, for 1,000 V-Bucks.
Four tiers, all at the same dollar prices they have always been. What changed is the amount in each one — and the cut got smaller the more you spend.

50 V-Bucks for $0.99, sold to finish a balance off. Epic’s own table puts it at about $0.50 before the change, so the price per V-Buck roughly doubled — from around 100 per dollar to 51. That makes it the worst rate Epic sells, by a distance, and since no pack lines up with a round thousand any more it is also the one people reach for most often without looking.
Pass prices came down with the packs, which softens the change for anyone who mainly buys a Battle Pass each season.
| Pass | Now | Before | Roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| Battle Pass Finishing it returns 800 V-Bucks, enough for the next one. The 500 V-Bucks that used to sit in the Bonus Rewards are gone. | 800 V-Bucks | 1,000 V-Bucks | $8.99 |
| Battle Bundle (Pass + 25 levels) The Battle Pass with the first 25 levels already unlocked. | 2,600 V-Bucks | 2,800 V-Bucks | $26.95 |
| OG Pass | 800 V-Bucks | 1,000 V-Bucks | $8.99 |
| Music Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks | 1,400 V-Bucks | $16.91 |
| LEGO Pass | 1,200 V-Bucks | 1,400 V-Bucks | $16.91 |
The “roughly” column is the cheapest combination of packs that covers the pass, so it usually leaves change over.
The subscription grants V-Bucks too, and it took the same cut — without a price cut to match.
$11.99 a month for 800 V-Bucks and four passes
Included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
On V-Bucks alone, packs win by 8,550 a year. Crew only makes sense if you would have bought the passes anyway — and if you buy the Battle Pass every season and finish it, you already have the V-Bucks for the next one.
Worked out with the same code the calculator runs, so these figures and the ones at the top of the page agree by construction.
| V-Bucks wanted | Cheapest packs | You pay | You end up with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 500 | 1 × 800 | $8.99 | 800 |
| 800 | 1 × 800 | $8.99 | 800 |
| 1,000 | 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 | $12.95 | 1,000 |
| 1,200 | 1 × 800 + 8 × 50 | $16.91 | 1,200 |
| 2,000 | 1 × 2,400 | $22.99 | 2,400 |
| 2,400 | 1 × 2,400 | $22.99 | 2,400 |
| 2,600 | 1 × 2,400 + 4 × 50 | $26.95 | 2,600 |
| 5,000 | 1 × 4,500 + 1 × 800 | $45.98 | 5,300 |
| 10,000 | 2 × 4,500 + 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 | $86.93 | 10,000 |
| 13,500 | 1 × 12,500 + 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 | $102.94 | 13,500 |
| 25,000 | 2 × 12,500 | $179.98 | 25,000 |
Packs come in fixed sizes, so most amounts overshoot — the last column is what you actually hold afterwards. Where a row needs several of the 50 V-Bucks Exact Amount Pack, that is the cheapest route and still the worst rate Epic sells.
| Budget | Packs | V-Bucks | Per $1 |

| $25.00 | 1 × 2,400 + 2 × 50 | 2,500 | 100 |
| $50.00 | 1 × 4,500 + 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 | 5,500 | 110 |

The most V-Bucks reachable without going over the budget, before sales tax and before any Epic Rewards credit.
The headline is that nothing got more expensive and everything got smaller, but the interesting part is how unevenly. The $8.99 pack lost 20% of its V-Bucks; the $89.99 pack lost 7.4%. A player spending $8.99 at a time absorbed nearly three times the cut of one buying the biggest pack.
Almost nobody covers the Exact Amount Pack, and it took the worst of it: Epic's own table puts it at about $0.50 for 50 V-Bucks before the change and $0.99 after — the price per V-Buck roughly doubled, from about 100 per dollar to 51. Since the round thousand no longer matches any pack, this is the top-up people reach for without noticing what it costs.
Epic Rewards quietly gives the increase back, but only to some players. Take the $1.79 credit off the $8.99 pack and it works out at 111 V-Bucks per dollar — within a rounding error of the 111 that same $8.99 bought before March. That only applies through the Epic Games Store or Epic's payment system on PC, mobile and web. Buy on PlayStation, Xbox or Switch and there is no credit, so the increase is real and permanent.
Epic sells four fixed packs plus a 50 V-Bucks top-up, so a flat rate gives the wrong answer for most amounts. The calculator searches every combination for the cheapest basket that reaches your figure, including topping up with Exact Amount Packs where that genuinely wins. It also shows what the basket overshoots by, because for most targets the honest answer is "this much, and you will have some left over".
Turn the toggle on and every price has Epic's 20% credit subtracted, using the exact per-pack amounts Epic publishes rather than a percentage of our own. It is switched off by default because it only applies through the Epic Games Store and Epic's payment system, and because the credit is spendable on Epic games rather than refundable. Console buyers should leave it off.
Sales tax, which most US and Canadian storefronts add at checkout, and local pricing, which Epic sets per country rather than converting from dollars. Item shop prices are not included either: they change daily and Epic does not publish them anywhere durable. Pass prices are the ones Epic set on 19 March 2026 and are listed in full below.
There is no 13,500 pack any more. Since 19 March 2026 the $89.99 tier gives 12,500 V-Bucks instead, a cut of 7.4%. To actually hold 13,500 you now need 1 × 12,500 + 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 V-Bucks, costing $102.94. Price lists still showing 13,500 for $89.99 have not been checked since March.
$12.95, and it takes 5 separate purchases: 1 × 800 + 4 × 50 V-Bucks. The 1,000 pack that used to cost $8.99 was replaced by an 800 pack at the same price, so the round thousand no longer lines up with anything Epic sells. Topping the last 200 up with Exact Amount Packs is the cheapest route, and the most expensive V-Bucks you will ever buy.
800 V-Bucks, down from 1,000. Finishing it returns 800 V-Bucks, which is exactly enough for the next one — so a player who completes every Pass buys in once and never again. What did change is the surplus: the old Pass returned 1,000 plus 500 more in the Bonus Rewards, and that 500 is gone. The Battle Bundle, which adds the first 25 levels, is 2,600.
Yes, although no price on the storefront went up. Epic announced the change on 10 March 2026 and applied it on 19 March 2026: every tier kept its dollar price and gave fewer V-Bucks. The cut is not even. The smallest pack lost 20% of its V-Bucks and the largest only 7.4%, so the change fell hardest on the people spending least.
The 12,500 pack at $89.99 — 139 V-Bucks per dollar, against 89 on the 800 pack. Buy through the Epic Games Store or Epic's payment system and it is better still: the $17.99 of Epic Rewards credit brings it to 174 per dollar. The Exact Amount Pack is the one to avoid unless you are finishing off a balance — 50 V-Bucks for $0.99 is 51 per dollar, barely a third of the big pack.
On PC, mobile and web, very nearly. Epic gives 20% back as credit on purchases made through the Epic Games Store or Epic's own payment system, which turns the $8.99 pack into $7.20 of real spend for 800 V-Bucks — 111 per dollar, against the 111 the same $8.99 bought before March. On the biggest pack it more than cancels it out. Two catches: the credit is Epic store credit rather than money, and buying on PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo earns none of it, so console players pay the new rate flat.
Yes. Epic addressed this directly in the announcement: existing V-Bucks gift cards still redeem at their printed value. A card printed as 1,000 V-Bucks still delivers 1,000 V-Bucks, which makes it worth more than the $8.99 pack on sale today. Redeem it at fortnite.com/vbuckscard against the Epic account you play on, not the console store.
Not on the V-Bucks alone. Crew costs $11.99 a month for 800 V-Bucks — the same amount the $8.99 pack gives, so the V-Bucks alone are $3.00 worse off. The passes are what make it: Crew includes the Battle Pass, OG Pass, LEGO Pass and Music Pass, and the Battle Pass by itself is 800 V-Bucks. Over a year Crew costs $143.88 and grants 9,600 V-Bucks, where the same money spent on packs would buy 18,150 — so buy Crew for the passes, or packs for the V-Bucks, but not Crew for the V-Bucks.
V-Bucks bought on PC, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile share one balance on your Epic account, so they follow you between those platforms. PlayStation is the exception people get caught by, and anything bought with V-Bucks — outfits, emotes, pickaxes — always appears everywhere you sign in, whichever platform paid. Our Fortnite guide walks through the Shared Wallet rules and how to link accounts before you spend.
Every pack size and price was checked on 20 September 2026 against Epic's own announcement and the current US PlayStation Store listings, which are linked under Sources. When Epic changes a pack we update the calculator and add the change to the update history. Prices are US list prices before sales tax; local prices are set per country rather than converted.
Every figure the calculator uses was checked against these pages on .
Published, with the pack sizes Epic moved to on 19 March 2026 rather than the ones most price lists still carry. Each of the four tiers was re-checked against its current US PlayStation Store listing, and the before-and-after column comes from Epic's own announcement. Includes the Exact Amount Pack, the Epic Rewards credit per pack, and the new pass prices.
Most people top a platform wallet up first, then buy V-Bucks inside the game so the charge comes off the balance. We sell the codes that do it: PlayStation gift cards, Xbox gift cards and Google Play gift cards. A V-Bucks card bought before March still redeems at its printed value, which makes an old one worth more than today’s pack.
