Which Shark Card is worth buying
Ranked by how much GTA$ each dollar buys. The gap between the top and the bottom of this list is the single most useful thing to know before spending anything.
- Megalodon Shark$99.99 for 10,000,000 GTA$100,010GTA$ per $1
- Whale Shark$49.99 for 4,250,000 GTA$85,017GTA$ per $1
- Great White Shark$19.99 for 1,500,000 GTA$75,038GTA$ per $1
- Bull Shark$9.99 for 600,000 GTA$60,060GTA$ per $1
- Tiger Shark$4.99 for 250,000 GTA$50,100GTA$ per $1
The card at the top is worth 2× the one at the bottom, dollar for dollar. Every card beats the one below it, so two of a smaller card are never worth buying when one larger card costs about the same. Prices and amounts from the US PlayStation Store listings.
Every Shark Card and what it gives
The five cards Rockstar sells, at US list prices before sales tax. Each row links to the listing its figures were read from.
| Card | Price | GTA$ | GTA+ member card | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tiger Shark Cash Card | $4.99 | 250,000 | 287,500 | PlayStation Store (US) |
| Bull Shark Cash Card | $9.99 | 600,000 | 690,000 | PlayStation Store (US) |
| Great White Shark Cash Card | $19.99 | 1,500,000 | 1,725,000 | PlayStation Store (US) |
| Whale Shark Cash Card | $49.99 | 4,250,000 | 4,887,500 | PlayStation Store (US) |
| Megalodon Shark Cash Card | $99.99 | 10,000,000 | 11,500,000 | PlayStation Store (US) |
The GTA+ column is each card's amount plus the 15% member bonus Rockstar states, which it does not tabulate per card. GTA+ also deposits 500,000 GTA$ a month for $7.99.
What common amounts cost
Worked out with the same code the calculator runs, so these numbers and the ones above the page agree by construction.
| GTA$ wanted | Cheapest cards | You pay | You end up with |
|---|---|---|---|
| 100,000 | 1 × Tiger Shark | $4.99 | 250,000 |
| 250,000 | 1 × Tiger Shark | $4.99 | 250,000 |
| 500,000 | 1 × Bull Shark | $9.99 | 600,000 |
| 1,000,000 | 1 × Great White Shark | $19.99 | 1,500,000 |
| 2,000,000 | 1 × Great White Shark + 1 × Bull Shark | $29.98 | 2,100,000 |
| 5,000,000 | 1 × Whale Shark + 1 × Bull Shark + 1 × Tiger Shark | $64.97 | 5,100,000 |
| 10,000,000 | 1 × Megalodon Shark | $99.99 | 10,000,000 |
| 25,000,000 | 2 × Megalodon Shark + 1 × Whale Shark + 1 × Bull Shark + 1 × Tiger Shark | $264.95 | 25,100,000 |
| 50,000,000 | 5 × Megalodon Shark | $499.95 | 50,000,000 |
| 100,000,000 | 10 × Megalodon Shark | $999.90 | 100,000,000 |
Cards come in fixed sizes, so most amounts overshoot. The last column is what you actually hold afterwards.
| Budget | Cards | GTA$ | Per $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5.00 | 1 × Tiger Shark | 250,000 | 50,100 |
| $10.00 | 1 × Bull Shark | 600,000 | 60,060 |
| $20.00 | 1 × Great White Shark | 1,500,000 | 75,038 |
| $25.00 | 1 × Great White Shark + 1 × Tiger Shark | 1,750,000 | 70,056 |
| $50.00 | 1 × Whale Shark | 4,250,000 | 85,017 |
| $100.00 | 1 × Megalodon Shark | 10,000,000 | 100,010 |
| $200.00 | 2 × Megalodon Shark | 20,000,000 | 100,010 |
Spending the whole budget is not always possible: the figures show the most GTA$ reachable without going over.
What we found checking the prices
Rockstar’s own store does not print the GTA$ amount on a card’s tile, and opened from Poland it prices everything in złoty — 319.00 zł for the Megalodon Shark, 18.00 zł for the Tiger Shark — rather than converting the dollar price. So every figure on this page comes from the US PlayStation Store listings instead, which state the dollar price and the GTA$ amount in the same sentence. Each row of the table below links to the listing it was read from.
The Red Shark Card is genuinely gone rather than merely hidden: its PlayStation Store product page no longer resolves to a listing at all. Price lists still showing 100,000 GTA$ for $2.99 are quoting a card Rockstar withdrew when it raised the GTA$ on every remaining card by 20%.
The spread between the best and the worst card is wider than in any other in-game currency we have priced. 20 Tiger Shark cards cost $99.80 and deliver 5,000,000 GTA$; one Megalodon Shark costs $99.99 and delivers 10,000,000. Nineteen cents more, exactly double the money. Because every card beats the one below it, there is never a reason to buy two of a smaller card when one larger card costs about the same.
How this calculator works
Pricing an amount
Rockstar sells five fixed cards, so a flat “GTA$ per dollar” gives the wrong answer for most amounts. The calculator searches every combination of the five for the cheapest basket that reaches your figure, and says how far it overshoots. When two baskets are within a cent or two it prefers the one with fewer cards: two Tiger Shark cards cost a cent less than one Bull Shark, and recommending them to save that cent while losing 100,000 GTA$ would be daft.
Valuing a balance
“What is my GTA$ worth” is really asking what it would cost to buy, so the headline figure multiplies your balance by the best rate on sale — the Megalodon Shark’s 100,010 GTA$ per dollar. That is the floor: no card sells GTA$ more cheaply. The basket underneath is what you would actually pay at the till, which is always the same or more, because cards come in fixed sizes.
The GTA+ column
Rockstar publishes the member bonus as 15% but does not publish a per-card table, so the GTA+ amounts here are each card’s standard amount plus 15%. Every one lands on a whole GTA$, which is a good sign but not a promise — check the amount in your own store before buying. The 500,000 GTA$ monthly deposit is counted separately, because members receive it whether they buy a card or not.
Questions people ask about GTA money
Including the one that matters most before Grand Theft Auto VI arrives on 19 November 2026.
- How much is 1 million GTA$ in real money?
- About $10.00 at the best rate Rockstar sells, which is the Megalodon Shark Cash Card at 100,010 GTA$ per dollar. Buying exactly a million is not possible, though: the cheapest cards that reach it are 1 × Great White Shark (1,500,000 GTA$), costing $19.99 and leaving you with 1,500,000 GTA$. Buy in the smallest size instead and the same million takes 4 Tiger Shark cards for $19.96.
- How much GTA$ do you get for $20?
- 1,500,000 GTA$ — one Great White Shark Cash Card at $19.99. That works out at 75,038 GTA$ per dollar, better than the two cards below it and worse than the two above it. Spending $99.99 on a single Megalodon Shark instead gets you 10,000,000 GTA$, which is 33.3% more for every dollar.
- Which Shark Card gives the most GTA$ for the money?
- The Megalodon Shark, by a distance. It gives 100,010 GTA$ per dollar against 50,100 on the Tiger Shark — twice as much. The clearest way to see it: 20 Tiger Shark cards cost $99.80 and give you 5,000,000 GTA$, while a single Megalodon Shark costs $99.99 — nineteen cents more — and gives 10,000,000. Every step up the ladder is better value than the one below it, with no exceptions.
- Is the Red Shark Card still available?
- No. The Red Shark Card gave 100,000 GTA$ for $2.99 and was withdrawn when Rockstar raised the GTA$ on every other card by 20%. Its PlayStation Store product page no longer resolves to a listing, and it is absent from the Rockstar Store. The smallest card on sale now is the Tiger Shark at $4.99 for 250,000 GTA$. Price lists that still show a Red Shark have not been re-checked since 2022.
- Do GTA+ members get more GTA$ on a Shark Card?
- Yes. GTA+ costs $7.99 a month and gives members their own Shark Cards with 15% bonus GTA$, so the Megalodon Shark delivers 11,500,000 instead of 10,000,000. Membership also deposits 500,000 GTA$ into your Maze Bank account every month, which at card prices is worth more on its own than the $7.99 fee. Switch the calculator to GTA+ to price any amount both ways.
- Can I buy a Shark Card with a PlayStation, Xbox or Steam gift card?
- Yes, and it is the usual way to pay without putting a bank card on the account. Redeem the gift card to load your PlayStation Store, Microsoft or Steam wallet, then buy the Shark Card from that platform’s own store so the charge comes off the balance. The GTA$ lands on the GTA Online character you are signed in as on that platform — a card bought on PlayStation does not reach an Xbox or PC character, because money and progress are per platform.
- Can you turn GTA$ back into real money?
- No. GTA$ moves one way only: dollars buy it, and nothing turns it back. There is no official cash-out, no creator payout and no legitimate resale market — sites offering to sell you GTA$ are running modded-money drops, which Rockstar strips and bans for. That is what separates it from Robux, which can be cashed out through Roblox’s Developer Exchange when it was earned rather than bought. The “worth” figure on this page is what the GTA$ would cost you to buy, not what anyone will pay you for it.
- Will Shark Cards or GTA$ carry over to GTA 6?
- Rockstar has not said that they will, and nothing in GTA Online’s history suggests it. Money has never transferred between GTA Online platforms — only between console generations of the same account — and no GTA multiplayer balance has ever survived into a new game. Grand Theft Auto VI is due on 19 November 2026. Until Rockstar publishes something about balances, treat GTA$ you buy today as money spent in GTA Online and nowhere else.
- Why is the price different in my currency?
- Rockstar sets a local price per country rather than converting the dollar price. Opened from Poland, the Rockstar Store prices the Megalodon Shark at 319.00 zł and the Tiger Shark at 18.00 zł, and neither is the złoty equivalent of the US price. The figures here are the US dollar list prices before sales tax, taken from the US PlayStation Store listings. Use them to compare card sizes; use your own store for what your card will actually be charged.
- How up to date is this calculator?
- Every price and GTA$ amount was checked against Rockstar’s and PlayStation’s own listings on 20 September 2026, and each one is linked under Sources with the exact listing it came from. When Rockstar changes a card we update the calculator and add the change to the update history. Prices are US list prices before sales tax, and exclude the bonus offers Rockstar runs some weeks.

Update history
Published. Five Shark Cash Cards from $4.99 (250,000 GTA$) to $99.99 (10,000,000 GTA$), with the price and the amount for each read from its own US PlayStation Store listing rather than from a secondary price list. Includes the GTA+ member cards at 15% bonus GTA$, and says plainly that the Red Shark Card is gone.
