Who writes our content

Every buying guide and article names the person who wrote it and, where there is one, the editor who reviewed it. Each name links to a profile page with their role and the other pages they have written or reviewed. Content written by one of our desks is credited to that desk.

How we research

Facts come from primary sources first: the publisher’s or developer’s own announcements, the store page a product activates on, and the platform holder’s own documentation. Reputable press is used for events a publisher does not announce itself, such as a game being withdrawn from sale in some countries, and reference works only to confirm dates and to identify a game unambiguously.

Every buying guide lists the sources its facts were checked against, so you can check them too.

First-hand play

We play the games we write buying guides for. That experience decides what a guide spends its space on — the questions a buyer actually runs into — but facts that can change, such as system requirements, edition contents or account rules, are checked against the sources rather than written from memory.

Dates, updates and corrections

Each guide shows the date its facts were last checked. That date changes only when someone has checked them again, not when a page is merely edited. We revisit a guide when a patch, a new edition or a change to account rules affects what it says.

If you spot a mistake, write to [email protected] or use our contact page. We correct confirmed errors and update the date of the check.

Independence and commercial interest

Virtwave sells the digital keys and gift cards we write about, and we say so on the page. Publishers do not pay for our guides or approve them before publication, and we do not describe a relationship with a publisher that we do not have.

When the standard edition of a game is all most buyers need, the guide says so — even when we also sell a more expensive one.

Prices and sales

Prices on our pages are the live prices for your country, and a product is only offered where its key can be activated. We never publish a sale before it starts: promotion dates can reach us before they are public, and announcing them is the publisher’s decision. Once a sale is running, we show it.
