Worked examples: the Battle Pass, bundles and budgets

  1. The Premium Battle Pass (1,000 Coins)

The strictly cheapest way in is 2 × 500 for $9.98 (1,000 Coins, 2 purchases); one 1,000 Coins pack is $9.99, a cent more for one checkout. The Season 5 Starter Pack on the US PlayStation Store costs the same $9.99 for 1,000 Coins and adds an Epic skin, so if you are buying exactly one pass that is the better $9.99.

  2. The pass with 20 Tier Skips (2,200 Coins)

This one lines up with a pack exactly: 1 × 2,200 for $19.99 (2,200 Coins, 1 purchase), nothing left over. The difference between the two pass prices works out to 60 Coins per Tier Skip, about $0.55 each at the 2,200 pack’s rate — our arithmetic, not a price Blizzard lists.

  3. The Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle ($39.99) against the 4,500 pack

Both cost $39.99. The bundle gives the pass, 20 Tier Skips, two skins and 2,000 Coins. The 4,500 pack buys the same pass and skips for 2,200 Coins and leaves 2,300 Coins. So the bundle trades 300 Coins for the two skins.

  4. 4,000 Coins: when one bigger pack beats the cheapest basket

The cheapest exact basket is 8 × 500 for $39.92 (4,000 Coins, 8 purchases). One 4,500 Coins pack is $39.99 — $0.07 more for 500 extra Coins in a single checkout. Unless you will never spend the extra, the bigger pack is the better buy.

  5. 10,000 Coins

    1 × 6,900 + 1 × 2,200 + 2 × 500 for $89.96 (10,100 Coins, 4 purchases), with 100 spare, at 89.1¢ per 100. One 11,800 Coins pack is $99.99 — $10.03 more for 1,700 more Coins.

  6. A $25 or a $50 budget

    $25 buys 2,700 Coins as 1 × 2,200 + 1 × 500, $0.02 unspent. $50 buys 5,500 Coins as 1 × 4,500 + 1 × 1,000, $0.02 unspent.

Six things that change what you pay for Overwatch Coins

  1. The 1,000 pack is the worst value on the ladder, not the 500: two 500s cost $9.98 against $9.99. It is a tenth of a cent per 100 Coins (99.8¢ against 99.9¢), so it only matters if you like exact answers.
  2. Bonus Coins start at 2,000: +10% on the 2,000, +12.5% on the 4,000, +15% on the 6,000, +18% on the 10,000. The Xbox listings say the bonus is based on the price of the 1,000-Coin bundle.
  3. Coins bought on Battle.net, Steam, Xbox and PlayStation share one balance. Coins bought on the Nintendo eShop do not: Blizzard Support says they can only be spent in-game on Switch and do not show in your Overwatch Coins total. Items you unlock with Coins do carry across linked accounts on every platform.
  4. The Free Battle Pass includes 600 Coins a season, per the Season 5 pass page. Blizzard Support says the Coins on the pass track come after the other rewards are unlocked, and that buying the Premium pass after you reach those tiers does not hand out extra Coins.
  5. Mythic Prisms are a separate currency with their own packs (10 for $9.99, 30 for $24.99, 50 for $39.99 in Microsoft’s US catalogue). This calculator does not convert them.
  6. Prices are US list prices before sales tax. On Battle.net, Blizzard Support says Overwatch uses your Battle.net Balance first when it covers the price including sales tax, so where sales tax applies a $20 balance may not cover a $19.99 pack.

How the Overwatch Coins calculator works

Sourced figures
The 6 pack sizes and their US prices come from the PlayStation Store product pages and match Microsoft’s US catalogue and Blizzard’s Battle.net shop. The Battle Pass prices in Coins, the Ultimate bundle and the free-track Coins come from the Battle.net shop; the Starter Pack from the US PlayStation Store; the cross-platform rules from Blizzard Support.
Coins → USD: three baskets charted
Packs only come in fixed sizes, so “what does this cost” means “which packs reach at least this many Coins for the least money”. The calculator runs an exact search over every combination (an unbounded knapsack, not “biggest pack first”); on a tie it picks fewer purchases, then more Coins. Beside it, it charts a tidier basket and the cheapest single pack that covers the amount.
USD → Coins: the most for a budget
For a budget it finds the combination that gives the most Coins without going over, and shows what is left unspent next to the biggest single pack you could buy instead.
What a balance is worth
A balance is valued at two pack rates — the best (the largest pack) and the worst — because the same Coins cost a different amount depending on which pack they came from.
What we assume
Prices are US list prices before sales tax. We assume no limited-time sale is running. The 60 Coins per Tier Skip is our division of the gap between the two pass prices, not a price Blizzard lists. The “fewer checkouts” basket treats each extra purchase as worth $0.25 of hassle — our choice, not a store figure. We treat Coins as having no cash-out value.

What we checked on 12 October 2026, and what we could not

We read every price in this tool on 12 October 2026. On the US PlayStation Store we opened the 6 “Overwatch® - … Overwatch Coins” product pages; each page’s data carried the price as a dollar amount. We work from Poland, so to rule out local pricing we also asked Microsoft’s catalogue for the 6 Xbox Coins products with the market set to US, and loaded Blizzard’s US Battle.net shop page. All three listed the same 6 prices, from $4.99 to $99.99, to the cent.

The store titles split each pack into base and bonus — “10000 (+1800 Bonus)” — and the calculator works with the total you receive. The game’s store name is now plain “Overwatch®” on all three stores; older guides still say Overwatch 2.

The Battle Pass prices in Coins (1,000 and 2,200), the $39.99 Ultimate bundle and the 600 free-track Coins come from Blizzard’s Season 5 Battle Pass page on the Battle.net shop. The cross-platform rules come from Blizzard Support.

We did not check shop item prices in Coins (skins rotate weekly and Blizzard publishes no list), Steam’s or the Nintendo eShop’s Coins prices, or any country other than the US, so the calculator lets you type the Coins price you see in game.

Overwatch Coins questions, answered

How much are Overwatch Coins?

In the US, before sales tax: 500 for $4.99, 1,000 for $9.99, 2,000 (+200 bonus) for $19.99, 4,000 (+500 bonus) for $39.99, 6,000 (+900 bonus) for $59.99, 10,000 (+1,800 bonus) for $99.99. The PlayStation Store, Microsoft’s Xbox catalogue and Blizzard’s Battle.net shop all listed these prices on 12 October 2026. Per 100 Coins that runs from 99.9¢ in the 1,000 pack down to 84.7¢ in the 11,800 pack.

How much is 1000 Overwatch Coins?

$9.99 as one 1,000-Coin pack. Strictly, 2 × 500 is cheaper at $9.98 — $0.01 less for two checkouts. The Season 5 Starter Pack on the US PlayStation Store is also $9.99 for 1,000 Coins and adds an Epic skin.

How much is 1 Overwatch Coin worth in USD?

Between 0.847¢ and 0.999¢, depending on the pack — just under a cent. That is 100 to 118 Coins per dollar. This is what Coins cost to buy, not what they could be cashed out for.

How much does the Overwatch Battle Pass cost in Coins?

The Season 5 Premium Battle Pass is 1,000 Coins on Blizzard’s Battle.net shop, and the pass with 20 Tier Skips is 2,200 Coins. In dollars that is $9.98 (2 × 500) and $19.99 (1 × 2,200). The Ultimate Battle Pass Bundle is sold for money, $39.99, and includes 2,000 Coins.

What is the best value Overwatch Coins pack?

The 10,000 (+1,800 bonus) pack at $99.99: 84.7¢ per 100 Coins, 118 Coins per dollar. The worst is the 1,000 pack at 99.9¢ per 100 — even the 500 pack is a hair better (99.8¢). For a specific amount, buy the smallest mix that covers it rather than the biggest pack.

How many Overwatch Coins can I get for $50?

5,500 Coins (1 × 4,500 + 1 × 1,000) for $49.98, with $0.02 unspent, at US list prices before sales tax.

Can I get the Battle Pass with free Overwatch Coins?

Over time. The Season 5 pass page lists 600 Coins among the Free Battle Pass rewards, so finishing the free track 2 seasons running covers one 1,000-Coin pass, by our arithmetic. Blizzard Support notes the Coins come after the other rewards on the track, and buying the pass after reaching those tiers does not grant extra Coins.

Are Overwatch Coins shared across platforms?

Mostly. Blizzard Support says Coins bought on Battle.net, Steam, Xbox and PlayStation are shared across those four. Coins bought on the Nintendo eShop can only be spent in-game on Switch and do not appear in your Coins total. Items unlocked with Coins carry across linked accounts on every platform, including Nintendo.
