Worked examples: the Rift Pass, the bundle, 4,000 and 10,000 cells

  1. The Rift Pass (1,000 Auric Cells)

Cheapest: 2 × 500 for $9.98 (1,000 Auric Cells, 2 purchases). One 1,100 pack is $9.99 — a cent more, one checkout instead of two, and 100 cells left, exactly one 100-cell tier. For most players the 1,100 pack is the better buy.

  2. The pass plus 10 tiers, with 350 cells already in the wallet

    (10 tiers and 350 cells are our example.) 1,000 + 10 × 100 = 2,000 Auric Cells; you are 1,650 short. Cheapest: 4 × 500 for $19.96 (2,000 Auric Cells, 4 purchases); tidier: 1 × 2,250 for $19.99 (2,250 Auric Cells, 1 purchase).

  3. The 2,000-cell Rift bundle

Behaviour describes it as 3,000 Auric Cells’ worth of content for 2,000. 2,000 cells cost 4 × 500 for $19.96 (2,000 Auric Cells, 4 purchases), or 1 × 2,250 for $19.99 (2,250 Auric Cells, 1 purchase) — $0.03 more for one checkout and 250 cells spare.

  4. 4,000 cells: the 4,025 pack, and why PC players pay more

On PlayStation and Xbox: 1 × 4,025 for $34.99 (4,025 Auric Cells, 1 purchase). The Microsoft Store PC version has no 4,025 pack, so the same 4,000 cells cost 8 × 500 for $39.92 (4,000 Auric Cells, 8 purchases) there — $4.93 more.

  5. 10,000 Auric Cells

    Cheapest on console: 1 × 6,000 + 1 × 4,025 for $84.98 (10,025 Auric Cells, 2 purchases), 84.8¢ per 100. One 12,500 pack is $99.99 — $15.01 more for 2,475 more cells. On the Microsoft Store PC version, without the 4,025 and 12,500 packs: 1 × 6,000 + 8 × 500 for $89.91 (10,000 Auric Cells, 9 purchases).

  6. A $35 budget

    $35 buys 4,025 Auric Cells on console (1 × 4,025) — 4 Rift Passes with 25 over. On the Microsoft Store PC version the same $35 buys 3,850 Auric Cells (1 × 2,250 + 1 × 1,100 + 1 × 500).

  7. What is a 3,000-cell balance worth?

It would cost between $24.00 (at the 12,500-pack rate) and $29.94 (at the 500-pack rate) to buy. That is a purchase cost, not a cash value: Auric Cells cannot be cashed out. (3,000 is our example.)

What changes what Auric Cells cost you

  • Every bigger pack is cheaper per cell — 99.8¢ (500), 90.8¢ (1,100), 88.8¢ (2,250), 86.9¢ (4,025), 83.3¢ (6,000), 80¢ (12,500) — but the first step is tiny: the 1,100 pack gives 120% more cells than the 500 for one cent more than two 500s. That is why round amounts up to 3,500 come out cheapest as stacks of 500s.
  • Round numbers are where the cents hide: 2,000 cells cost $19.96 as 4 × 500, while one 2,250 pack is $19.99 for 250 more. The calculator shows both, finding the tidier one by charging 25¢ per checkout in the search — an assumption we label, not a fee anyone charges.
  • The bonus is already counted. Behaviour says the 1,100 pack is 1,000 + 10%; nothing extra arrives on top of the number on the tile.
  • The Microsoft Store PC version (“Dead by Daylight Windows”) sells only the 500, 1,100, 2,250, 6,000 packs in the US catalogue. $100 buys 12,000 Auric Cells there against 12,500 on console.
  • Behaviour says Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store PC version are separate Dead by Daylight accounts when you buy, and cells bought for the wrong one must be refunded by Microsoft. Once you link and sync a Behaviour account, one wallet holds the cells from every platform except Nintendo Switch.
  • On PlayStation, an account, game and store in different regions cause a “SKU mismatch” — the store says there are no packs available, and Behaviour says the only fix is a refund from Sony.
  • Behaviour warns that buying Auric Cells through a VPN can alter the price and make the purchase fail. If cells have not arrived after 24 hours, its first fix is to restart the game and open the store, which can clear a purchase stuck as pending.
  • Buying a character with Auric Cells or Iridescent Shards gives one outfit; the second outfit comes only with the Chapter DLC, Behaviour says. If you want both, compare the Chapter’s cash price with the cells it would take.
  • The cheapest pack per cell is 12,500 at $99.99 — but only if you will spend it. Leftover cells are only worth something in Dead by Daylight; they cannot be cashed out or moved to another game.
  • Gift cards add store credit, not Auric Cells: an Xbox gift card tops up the Microsoft account balance and a Steam card the Steam Wallet, and you then buy the pack with it.

How the Dead by Daylight Auric Cells calculator works

Sourced figures
The 6 pack sizes and their US prices come from the US PlayStation Store listings, checked to the cent against Microsoft’s US catalogue for Xbox, plus the four Windows packs from the same catalogue. The Rift Pass (1,000 cells), tier price (100), tier count (70) and bundle (2,000) come from deadbydaylight.com and Behaviour’s help centre, as do the bonus, wallet and refund rules.
Auric Cells → USD: the cheapest basket
Packs come in fixed sizes, so “what does this cost” means “which packs reach at least this many cells for the least money”. The calculator runs an exact search over every combination of packs (an unbounded knapsack, not “biggest pack first”), in steps of 25 cells. On a tie it picks fewer purchases, then more cells.
USD → Auric Cells: the most for a budget
For a budget it finds the combination that gives the most cells without going over, and shows what is left, how many Rift Passes that covers and the biggest single pack you could buy instead.
Rift & store planner
It adds 1,000 cells for the pass (or 2,000 for the bundle), 100 per extra tier and any store items you type, subtracts the cells you already have, then prices only what is missing on the platform you picked.
What we assume
Prices are US prices before sales tax, with no sale running; we did not reach a checkout. Behaviour’s Rift page values the bundle at 3,000 cells of content but does not list what it contains, so the planner prices the bundle at its 2,000-cell cost and adds any tiers you type on top — check in the game whether the bundle already includes them. The “fewer checkouts” basket charges 25¢ per extra purchase inside the search only — a tidiness rule we chose, not a fee. Example amounts, balances and budgets are numbers we picked to show the maths.

What we checked on 22 October 2026, and what we could not

We read every price in this tool on 22 October 2026. A search for “auric cells” on the US PlayStation Store returned six Dead by Daylight Auric Cells packs for the PS5 version (and the same six for PS4); we opened each PS5 listing. All six were at full price, and the listing still names Starbreeze Publishing AB as the publisher — Starbreeze published the game at its 2016 launch.

We work from Poland, so to rule out local pricing we asked Microsoft’s store catalogue for the Xbox products with the market set to US. The six console packs came back as Consumables at the same prices to the cent. The same search returned only four packs for “Dead by Daylight Windows”, the Microsoft Store PC version — 500, 1,100, 2,250, 6,000 — with no 4,025 or 12,500 pack, so the calculator has a PC switch that drops them. At 10,000 cells that costs a PC player $4.93 more.

What surprised us: two 500 packs ($9.98) undercut the 1,100 pack by one cent for the 1,000-cell Rift Pass, and the same pattern repeats at round numbers up to 3,500 — the cheapest basket is a stack of 500s, a few cents cheaper and a lot more checkouts. The calculator shows that basket and a tidier one beside it.

Behaviour’s own pages gave us the Rift figures (pass 1,000, tiers 100 each, 70 tiers, a 2,000-cell bundle) and the wallet, refund and bonus rules. What we did not check: Steam and Epic prices (Auric Cells on those are bought in-game and shown in local currency from here), Nintendo eShop prices, prices outside the US, and what individual characters and outfits cost — Behaviour’s help centre confirms characters can be bought with Auric Cells or Iridescent Shards but does not list prices, so type the price the store shows you. We did not buy anything.

Auric Cells questions, answered

How much are Auric Cells in Dead by Daylight?

In the US, before sales tax: 500 Auric Cells for $4.99, 1,100 Auric Cells for $9.99, 2,250 Auric Cells for $19.99, 4,025 Auric Cells for $34.99, 6,000 Auric Cells for $49.99, 12,500 Auric Cells for $99.99. The US PlayStation Store and Microsoft’s US Xbox catalogue listed all 6 at these prices on 22 October 2026, and none was on sale.

How much is 1,000 Auric Cells in USD?

$9.98 — 2 × 500. There is no 1,000 pack: the 1,100 pack costs $9.99, one cent more for 100 extra cells. 5,000 Auric Cells cost $44.97 (1 × 4,025 + 2 × 500) and 10,000 cost $84.98 (1 × 6,000 + 1 × 4,025).

How much does the Rift Pass cost in Dead by Daylight?

1,000 Auric Cells, which Behaviour confirms on its Rift page and in its help centre. In dollars that is $9.98 as 2 × 500, or $9.99 as one 1,100 pack — which leaves exactly 100 cells, the price of one extra tier (100 cells each). Behaviour also sells a bundle: 2,000 Auric Cells for “3,000 Auric Cell’s worth of content”, $19.96 at the cheapest (4 × 500).

How much does it cost to buy every Rift tier?

A Rift has 70 tiers. Unlocking the pass and buying the other 69 tiers at 100 cells each would be 7,900 Auric Cells — $69.95 at the cheapest (1 × 6,000 + 4 × 500). Nobody needs to: tiers also unlock by playing, and buying the pass late still grants every Premium reward you already reached.

What is the best value Auric Cells pack?

The 12,500 pack at $99.99: 80¢ per 100 Auric Cells, or 125 cells per dollar. The 500 pack is the dearest at 99.8¢ — 24.8% more per cell. Every step up the ladder is cheaper per cell, so no pack is a trap; the catch is that the 500 pack is so close to the 1,100 that two 500s undercut it.

How many Auric Cells do you get for $5, $10, $20, $50 or $100?

$5 buys 500 Auric Cells (1 × 500); $10 buys 1,100 Auric Cells (1 × 1,100); $20 buys 2,250 Auric Cells (1 × 2,250); $50 buys 6,000 Auric Cells (1 × 6,000); $100 buys 12,500 Auric Cells (1 × 12,500). That is on PlayStation and Xbox; the Microsoft Store PC version sells no 4,025 or 12,500 pack, so $100 buys 12,000 Auric Cells there.

Do Auric Cells packs include a bonus?

Yes, and it is already in the number on the pack. Behaviour’s help centre says “the 1,100 Auric Cell pack is 1,000 Auric Cells + an additional 10%”, so you receive 1,100, not 1,100 plus a bonus. The store listings give totals only; Behaviour does not publish the split for the other packs.

Can I use Auric Cells on PC and console?

Once you link and sync your platforms to a Behaviour account, Behaviour says you get one shared wallet holding the Auric Cells from all of them, usable on Steam, Epic, Windows Store, PlayStation and Xbox. Nintendo Switch is the exception: Auric Cells bought there stay on the Switch. When you buy, Behaviour treats Xbox consoles and the Microsoft Store PC version as separate Dead by Daylight accounts, so check which one you are buying for.

Can you get a refund on Auric Cells?

Only through the store that took your money. Behaviour says it does not process payments, so refunds of Auric Cells or DLC bought outside the game go to Steam, Epic, Microsoft, PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo under their own rules — and on PlayStation, a region mismatch between account, game and store (“there are no packs available”) can only be fixed with a refund from Sony.

Is the 4,025 Auric Cells pack worth it?

It is the pack to know about: $34.99 for 4,025 cells is 86.9¢ per 100, and on its own it is the cheapest basket for anything from 3,875 to 4,025 cells (below that, smaller packs win) — 4,000 cells cost $34.99 with it, against $39.92 on the Microsoft Store PC version, which does not sell it.
