The Rayman Legends Retold release date is Thursday 3 December 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store). Ubisoft moved it from 1 October in September. On consoles it unlocks at midnight local time. Standard costs $39.99 and already includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition; the digital Deluxe Edition is $49.99.

We don’t sell the game itself, but you can pay for it from your platform wallet. Two Steam $20 US gift cards cover the Standard Edition on PC, and one Xbox $50 US gift card covers the Deluxe Edition on Xbox with a cent to spare. Below: unlock times by region, what the $10 Deluxe premium buys, sizes, PC specs, and what is still unannounced.

Rayman Legends Retold release date and time

What time does Rayman Legends Retold unlock?

Console unlock times from the release dates in Microsoft’s store data (US, UK, Germany, Japan, Australia) and the PlayStation Store (US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia), read 2 November 2026. Both stores give the same time in every region where we read both.

So it is a rolling midnight launch on consoles: Australia and Japan get it first, the US last. The US PlayStation Store listing shows “12/3/2026 05:00 AM UTC” on the product page itself, which is midnight Eastern and 9 PM Pacific the evening before. The Xbox listing’s release data says the same. The Steam page gives only “Dec 3, 2026”, and the Nintendo Store page shows the date with no hour. We will add those times when Ubisoft publishes them.

Why was Rayman Legends Retold delayed?

Ubisoft revealed Rayman Legends Retold during Sony’s State of Play on 2 June 2026. It is a 3D-rendered reimagining of the 2013 platformer, made by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, with a new story, voiced cinematics, a new sixth realm and four new musical stages. Steam pre-purchases were live by 3 June. On 2 November, every store we checked (PlayStation, Xbox, Steam and Nintendo) listed 3 December 2026.

“Rayman Legends Retold will release on December 3. While the game has officially gone gold, we have decided to take extra time to make sure every detail gets the care it deserves.”

— The Rayman Development Team, Ubisoft, 14 September 2026

The game was due on 1 October 2026: that is the date in Ubisoft’s June announcement press release. On 14 September, about two weeks before launch, Ubisoft moved it to 3 December. The statement, reported in full by Gematsu, says the game had already “gone gold”, meaning the launch build was finished. Ubisoft gave no other reason. Since then the team has kept posting on Steam: PC requirements and accessibility features on 23 September, and Steam trading cards on 27 October, a post that again says “December 3”.

Can you pre-load Rayman Legends Retold?

Not yet. On 2 November none of the four stores had announced a pre-load date. Digital pre-orders on PS5 and Xbox normally download in the last few days before launch, and Steam usually opens pre-loads shortly before unlock, but treat that as likely rather than confirmed for this game. The Switch 2 version cannot be pre-ordered at all yet: Nintendo’s US store data showed no price, with pre-orders not open. Plan for at least 33 GB on PC and about 25 GB on Switch 2 (sizes below).

Every edition includes Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition, so even Standard gets you two games. On Xbox, Microsoft’s catalogue lists Origins as a separate game inside the bundle, which suggests it will appear as its own tile on the console. The Deluxe Upgrade Pack is in the press release, but on 2 November no store we checked was selling it and Steam listed no DLC for the game. If you buy Standard now, you should be able to add the Deluxe extras later, though we don’t know the price yet.

Pre-order bonus and the free launch outfits

  • Pre-order bonus, any edition: the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, two costumes inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc. Ubisoft’s 27 October Steam post names them as the Metal Mania outfit for Rayman and the Hoodlum outfit for Globox, unlocked at launch. The Xbox bundle data lists the same two items.
  • Free for everyone at launch: “baguette” outfits for Rayman and Barbara, a nod to Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which was also made in Montpellier. Ubisoft revealed them on 21 October, as reported by Gaming Trend.
  • Steam only: 11 trading cards, 6 badges, 5 emoticons and 3 profile backgrounds, per Ubisoft’s 27 October Steam announcement.
  • No pre-order deadline had been published on 2 November, and no store showed a pre-order discount.

What’s in Rayman Legends Retold

According to Ubisoft’s press release and Steam page, Retold keeps the 2013 game’s side-scrolling structure but rebuilds it in 3D, with a new story about a shadowy villain corrupting the Glade of Dreams and voiced cinematics. It adds a never-before-seen sixth realm and four new musical stages. Dragon rides, the Cave of Trials challenge mode and Kung Foot (now “Kung Foot Evo”, with ball carrying, power-ups and custom rules) are also in. The whole adventure is playable in up to 4-player couch co-op, and the soundtrack mixes old themes with new music by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.

Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition (included)

Ubisoft Da Nang remastered the 2011 game, and it comes free with every edition of Retold. Ubisoft’s Steam post on the Enhanced Edition (3 June 2026) lists what changes:

  • 4K resolution and 60 FPS, per the press release, with improved textures;
  • Relics and the Mosaic Gallery, two collectibles first added in the PS Vita version;
  • 18 new skins, bringing the total to 34;
  • 50 new standees (the original had one);
  • haptic feedback on supported controllers, plus quality-of-life fixes.

No store we checked sells Origins: Enhanced Edition on its own. The original Rayman Origins is still $19.99 on Steam, and the 2013 Rayman Legends $29.99, so Retold’s $39.99 covers both remakes.

Assist options: Fairy Blessing and Golden Heart

Ubisoft’s 23 September accessibility post describes assist features you can switch on per player, even in co-op. If you die repeatedly at the same checkpoint, Betilla offers the Fairy Blessing: no damage, free flight through breakable obstacles, and the power to revive yourself and floating allies. You can also turn it on any time in Settings. It is disabled in the hubs, Kung Foot and the Cave of Trials. The Golden Heart is a second, optional safety net that appears after a set number of deaths. Both are useful if you are playing with younger children.

PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC: what differs

  • PS5: tagged PS5 Pro Enhanced, with DualSense vibration, Remote Play and 1–4 players listed.
  • Xbox Series X|S: Optimized for Series X|S. In Microsoft’s catalogue data the game is not flagged as Xbox Play Anywhere, and its package is console-only, so buying on Xbox does not give you a Windows copy.
  • Nintendo Switch 2: TV, tabletop and handheld modes, ESRB E10+, and 12 languages listed. No price or pre-order on 2 November.
  • PC: Steam, Epic and the Ubisoft Store. The Steam page warns that a Ubisoft account is required and that the game uses Denuvo with a limit of 5 machine activations a day. Steam lists full controller support and full audio in eight languages, including English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese.
  • Ubisoft+: the press release says Retold launches on Ubisoft+ too (Premium was $17.99 a month at announcement), and on GeForce Now and Blacknut.

Paying with a Steam, Xbox or Nintendo eShop gift card

All four stores take pre-order payments from your account balance, so a gift card in your account’s currency works. On PC, two Steam $20 cards cover the Standard Edition and a Steam $50 card covers the Deluxe Edition. On Xbox, the Xbox $50 US gift card covers either edition. For Switch 2, a Nintendo eShop $50 card will cover the game if it launches at Ubisoft’s $39.99 suggested price. How to add the credit: our Steam gift card guide, Xbox gift card redeem guide and Nintendo eShop card guide. PlayStation wallet cards are not on sale in our store at the moment.

Want another couch co-op game for the family before December? On PC we stock LEGO Voyagers, a 2-player co-op adventure from the makers of LEGO Builder’s Journey, and LEGO Party!, a 4-player party game, both as Steam keys.

Sources & how we checked this

We read every date, price and size on 2 November 2026, between 03:00 and 04:00 UTC. We pulled Steam’s store data for the US, UK, Germany, Canada, Australia and Brazil, Microsoft’s catalogue for the US, UK, Germany, Japan and Australia, the PlayStation Store product page for the US, UK, Germany, Canada and Australia, and Nintendo’s US store page and price API. We opened the Steam and PlayStation pages in a browser for the screenshots and read Ubisoft’s announcements through Steam’s news feed. We also searched our own catalogue to confirm we do not stock the game, and checked that every product linked above is live. We have not played the game.

How we write these guides: our editorial policy. We will update this page when the Switch 2 price and the PC unlock hour appear, and again at launch with sizes and reviews. Also out on 3 December: Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV. Another 2000s co-op remaster lands sooner: Shrek 2 Remastered is out on 10 November for $29.99. A day later comes Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch 2.

  • Buy Standard unless you want the four Retro Pack costumes: the Deluxe Edition has no early access.
  • Pre-order on any store to get the Metal Mania and Hoodlum outfits at launch.
  • On Switch 2, wait for Nintendo to open pre-orders; there was no price on 2 November.
  • On PC, clear 33 GB on an SSD and have a Ubisoft account ready.
  • In the US, PS5 and Xbox unlock at 9 PM Pacific / midnight Eastern on 2–3 December.
