Shrek 2 Remastered release date and time
| Time zone | Unlock time | Date |
|---|---|---|
| US Pacific (PST) | 09:00 | Tuesday 10 November |
| US Eastern (EST) | 12:00 | Tuesday 10 November |
| UK (GMT) / UTC | 17:00 | Tuesday 10 November |
| Central Europe (CET) | 18:00 | Tuesday 10 November |
| Japan (JST) | 02:00 | Wednesday 11 November |
| Australia, Sydney (AEDT) | 04:00 | Wednesday 11 November |
The Shrek 2 Remastered release date is Tuesday 10 November 2026. It comes out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam and the Epic Games Store), and costs $29.99 everywhere. On PS5 and Xbox it unlocks at 17:00 UTC, which is 9:00 AM PST and 12:00 PM EST, at the same moment worldwide. Aspyr announced the remaster on 20 October, with a trailer that parodies the GTA 6 trailers (Gematsu has the announcement). The release date is nine days before GTA 6 itself on 19 November.
We don’t stock Shrek 2 Remastered, so this guide is about buying it on each platform’s own store. You can pay for it with a wallet card, for example a Nintendo eShop 35 USD gift card for either Switch version or a Xbox 50 USD gift card. If you want a co-op game your group can play tonight, we do sell Overcooked! All You Can Eat and LEGO Party! as instant keys.
What about Steam and Switch?
Steam and the Nintendo eShop give a date but no time. When we opened the Steam page at about 03:10 UTC on 4 November, it said “Coming Nov 10, 2026” and “This game plans to unlock in approximately 6 days”. Six days from then is consistent with the 17:00 UTC console time, but Steam only rounds to whole days, so it does not confirm the hour. Nintendo’s listing has 10 November only. Expect PC and Switch to follow the consoles. We will add the exact time if Aspyr publishes one.
Shrek 2 Remastered price on every platform
| Store | US price | Pre-order price | Pre-order deal ends | UK / EU |

| Xbox (Series X|S) | $29.99 | $26.99 | 10 Nov, 16:59 UTC (at launch) | £24.99 / €29.99 |
| Steam (PC) | $29.99 | $26.99 | “Offer ends November 17” | £24.09 / €28.99 |

| Nintendo eShop (Switch) | $29.99 | $26.99 | 17 Nov, 07:59 UTC | Not listed yet |

Where the 10% pre-order deal ends first
- PS5: the $26.99 price is only for PS Plus members, and it ends the moment the game unlocks (10 November, 17:00 UTC). Without PS Plus you pay $29.99.
- Xbox: $26.99 for everyone, but Microsoft’s catalogue ends the offer at 16:59 UTC on 10 November, one second before launch.
- Steam: $26.99 for everyone, and the store page says “PRE-PURCHASE PROMOTION! Offer ends November 17”, a week after launch.
- Nintendo eShop: $26.99 (CA$35.99) on both Switch versions, from 20 October until 17 November at 07:59 UTC, which is 11:59 PM PST on 16 November.

Outside the US, Microsoft charges £24.99, €29.99, A$44.95 and ¥3,500 (£22.49, €26.99, A$40.45 and ¥3,150 during pre-order). Steam is slightly cheaper in some regions: £24.09, €28.99, CDN$37.49 and A$42.95 before its 10% discount. In Canada, Nintendo charges CA$39.99. On 4 November, Nintendo’s UK, German and Australian price APIs did not list the game yet.
Switch 2 or Switch: two separate purchases
Nintendo sells two separate products, each at $29.99: the Switch 2 version and the Switch version. When we checked both US store pages, neither listed an upgrade pack from Switch to Switch 2, and the Switch 2 page did not say it was an upgrade. If you own a Switch 2, buy the Switch 2 version. It is the one with the 4K TV-mode upgrade, which VGC says covers every platform except the original Switch. The Switch version is for people who are still on the first console.
What is new in the remaster
“Everything has been rebuilt with better textures, enhanced UI, 4K resolution and cutscenes.”
— Aspyr, Shrek 2 Remastered store description on Steam
Aspyr lists two new features: a Photo Mode, and a Cheat Mode where you unlock cheats that make the playthrough easier. The rest is the 2004 game. You travel from Shrek’s swamp to Fiona’s castle in Far Far Away, swap between heroes at any time, and use each one’s ability for fights, bosses and environmental puzzles. Aspyr hasn’t said whether any levels were added or cut, and we haven’t played it, so we can’t tell you yet how much the remaster changes.
Co-op: up to four players
| Platform | Players | Online co-op | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS5 | 1–4 | Yes, up to 4 online | “PS Plus required for online play” |
| Xbox Series X|S | 1–4 | Yes, 2–4 online | Local co-op, split screen and online multiplayer listed |
| Steam (PC) | Solo or co-op | Yes | Shared/split-screen co-op, Remote Play Together, Family Sharing |
| Switch 2 / Switch | Solo or co-op | Per Aspyr | TV, tabletop and handheld modes |
Aspyr says you can play up to 4-player couch co-op, online, or mixed (some players on the couch, others online). Nintendo’s store pages don’t give a player count, so for Switch we only have Aspyr’s general description. Online play on PS5 needs PS Plus, and online play on Switch normally needs Nintendo Switch Online. Couch co-op needs neither.
Which Shrek 2 game is this?
There were two different Shrek 2 games in 2004, and this remaster is the console version. According to Wikipedia’s entry on the original, Luxoflux made it for PS2, GameCube and Xbox, and Activision published it on 4 May 2004 in North America. It has 11 levels, and in each one you switch between a team of four characters. The PC game of the time was a separate 3D platformer for younger players. VGC says the original sold more than 4 million units. It also notes that the next film, Shrek 5, has moved to 30 June 2027, so the game is not arriving alongside a new film.

File size and PC requirements
We converted the byte counts the stores publish into binary gigabytes, which is how consoles report storage. Shown in decimal gigabytes, the Xbox package would be 14.9 GB. The PS5 listing gave no download size on 4 November. On Xbox, the only package Microsoft lists is for console, so there is no Play Anywhere copy for Windows. On PC, the game comes from Steam or Epic.
PC requirements on Steam
| Component | Minimum | Recommended |
|---|---|---|
| OS | Windows 11 (64-bit) | Windows 11 (64-bit) |
| Processor | Intel i5-10400 / Ryzen 5 3600 | AMD Ryzen 5 3600X / Intel Core i5-10400 |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 16 GB RAM |
| Graphics | NVIDIA GTX 1060 / AMD RX 570 | NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700 |
| DirectX | Version 12 | Version 12 |
| Storage | 15 GB | 15 GB |
These are modest specs for 2026: the Steam page we read on 4 November asks for a GTX 1060-class card at minimum, so most gaming PCs from the last several years should qualify. Requirements can change before launch, so check the store page itself, not older articles. Steam lists English as the only language, with full audio. Nintendo’s listing has more: English, French, German, Italian, Latin American Spanish and Simplified Chinese. The PlayStation Store rates it ESRB E10+ for Comic Mischief and Fantasy Violence.
Which gift card covers it?
| Platform | Card that covers it | Left over at full price |
|---|---|---|
| Switch 2 or Switch | Nintendo eShop $35 | $5.01 |
| PC (Steam) | Steam $50, or Steam $20 + $10 | $20.01 / $0.01 |
| Xbox Series X|S | Xbox $50 | $20.01 |
| PS5 | No PSN card in our store right now | — |
For Switch, a Nintendo eShop 35 USD card is the closest fit. Our Nintendo eShop card guide shows where to enter the code. On PC, the Steam 50 USD gift card leaves room for something else, or a Steam 20 USD card plus a $10 card covers the game almost exactly. Xbox players need the Xbox 50 USD card, because a $25 card does not cover even the $26.99 pre-order price. These are US cards, and they only work on US accounts. Our region-lock guide explains why.
Sources & how we checked this
We read every date, price and size on 4 November 2026, between 03:00 and 03:30 UTC. We used Steam’s store data for the US, UK, Germany, Canada and Australia; Microsoft’s catalogue for the US, UK, Germany, Australia and Japan; the US PlayStation Store listing; and Nintendo’s US store pages and its price API for the US, Canada, the UK, Germany and Australia. We took the two screenshots in a browser that morning. We also searched our own catalogue to confirm that we don’t sell Shrek 2 Remastered, and checked that every product linked above is live. We have not played the game.

How we write these guides is set out in our editorial policy. We will update this page at launch with the PC and Switch unlock times, the PS5 size and the first reviews. Another remaster arriving this season is Rayman Legends Retold (3 December). For other November launches, see Pikmin 4 Switch 2 Edition and Football Manager 27.
