Worked examples: a Crown Store item, a year of ESO Plus and 20,000 Crowns

  1. A 2,500-Crown item with 600 Crowns in the wallet

(Both numbers are our example; type the price the Crown Store shows you.) You are 1,900 Crowns short. Cheapest: 1 × 1,500 + 1 × 750 for $22.98 (2,250 Crowns, 2 purchases). The single 3,000 pack would cost $24.99 — $2.01 more — and leave more spare.

  2. 2,000 Crowns: two packs beat the bigger one

    1 × 1,500 + 1 × 750 for $22.98 (2,250 Crowns, 2 purchases), against $24.99 for one 3,000 pack. The bigger pack costs $2.01 more but gives 750 more Crowns, so it is the better buy if you will spend them later. 4,000 Crowns: 1 × 3,000 + 1 × 1,500 for $39.98 (4,500 Crowns, 2 purchases).

  3. A year of ESO Plus, counted as Crowns

The 12 months term delivers 19,800 Crowns at purchase for $139.99. The cheapest packs for the same Crowns are 1 × 14,000 + 1 × 5,500 + 1 × 750 for $147.97 (20,250 Crowns, 3 purchases) — $7.98 more, before you count DLC access or the Craft Bag. Per 100 Crowns that is 70.7¢ against 71.4¢ for the best pack.

  4. One month of ESO Plus vs the 1,500 pack

    $14.99 buys either 1,500 Crowns as a pack or 1,650 Crowns and a month of membership. Reaching 1,650 with packs alone takes 1 × 1,500 + 1 × 750 for $22.98 (2,250 Crowns, 2 purchases).

  5. 20,000 Crowns: where the membership stops helping

    Packs: 1 × 14,000 + 1 × 5,500 + 1 × 750 for $147.97 (20,250 Crowns, 3 purchases). Twelve months of ESO Plus plus a 750 pack would cost $147.98 — a cent more — so the calculator stays with packs. Just above 19,800 the membership loses its edge.

  6. A $30 budget and a $140 budget

    $30 buys 3,000 Crowns in packs (1 × 3,000), or 3,150 Crowns as 1 month of ESO Plus + 1 × 1,500. $140 buys 19,500 Crowns in packs (1 × 14,000 + 1 × 5,500) or 19,800 Crowns as 12 months of ESO Plus.

  7. What is a 5,000-Crown balance worth?

It cost between $35.71 (at the 14,000-pack rate) and $53.27 (at the 750-pack rate) to buy. That is a purchase cost, not a cash value: Crowns cannot be cashed out and stay on the platform they were bought on. (5,000 is our example.)

What changes what Crowns cost you

  • Bigger packs are cheaper per Crown up to 14,000: 106.5¢ (750), 99.9¢ (1,500), 83.3¢ (3,000), 72.7¢ (5,500), 71.4¢ (14,000), 71.4¢ (21,000) per 100. The 21,000 pack is the exception — a fraction of a cent per 100 worse than the 14,000 — and the 5,500 pack is within 1.8% of the best.
  • There are gaps between the packs, so a 2,000-Crown item is cheapest as 1 × 1,500 + 1 × 750 ($22.98), not the 3,000 pack ($24.99). The calculator always searches every combination.
  • ESO Plus delivers each term’s whole allotment at purchase (1,650 for 1 month, 4,950 for 3 months, 9,900 for 6 months, 19,800 for 12 months). Counted as Crowns, the 1-month term is 90.8¢ per 100 and the 12-month 70.7¢; the 3-month (84.8¢) and 6-month (78.8¢) terms are worse than the big packs.
  • Crowns stay on the platform you bought them on: PlayStation, Xbox and PC (Steam included — Steam is the PC version) each have their own wallet. Crowns do follow you between the NA and EU megaservers, but a mount or pet bought on one megaserver stays there.
  • PlayStation players cannot stack more than 2 years of ESO Plus (ESO Support). The PlayStation listings mark ESO Plus as non-refundable.
  • Crown Store prices change with rotations and sales. Price the item you want with the “Crown Store item” mode, using the Crown price the store shows you today.
  • Gift cards add store credit, not Crowns: an Xbox gift card tops up the Microsoft account balance, a PlayStation card the PlayStation wallet and a Steam card the Steam Wallet. You then buy the Crown pack or ESO Plus with it.

How the ESO Crowns calculator works

Sourced figures
The 6 pack sizes and US prices come from the US PlayStation Store, checked to the cent against Microsoft’s US catalogue (Xbox) and Steam’s US store. ESO Plus’s 1,650 Crowns a month and the delivery at purchase come from ZeniMax’s ESO Plus page; its US prices from the PlayStation, Xbox and Steam listings. The platform and megaserver rules come from ESO Support.
Crowns → USD: the cheapest basket
Packs come in fixed sizes, so “what does this cost” means “which packs reach at least this many Crowns for the least money”. The calculator runs an exact search over every combination of packs (an unbounded knapsack, not “biggest pack first”), in steps of 250 Crowns. On a tie it picks fewer purchases, then more Crowns.
With ESO Plus
Beside the packs-only answer it tries each of the four ESO Plus terms once: the term’s whole allotment, plus the cheapest packs for whatever is still missing. The basket with a membership is shown only when it costs less. For a budget it does the same in reverse — the most Crowns from one membership plus packs.
USD → Crowns and Crown Store items
For a budget it finds the combination that gives the most Crowns without going over, and shows what is left. For a Crown Store item it subtracts the Crowns you already have, then prices only what is missing.
What we assume
Prices are US prices before sales tax, with no sale running; we did not reach a checkout. The ESO Plus comparison counts the Crowns only — DLC access, the Craft Bag and the other benefits are not given a dollar value — and adds at most one membership, because terms are bought one at a time and PlayStation caps stacking at two years. Item prices, balances and budgets are numbers you type or we picked to show the maths.

What we checked on 1 November 2026, and what we could not

We read every price in this tool on 1 November 2026. A search for “elder scrolls online crowns” on the US PlayStation Store returned the six Crown packs, the four ESO Plus terms and a handful of bundles; every pack listing showed its US price, and none was on sale.

We work from Poland, so to rule out local pricing we asked Microsoft’s store catalogue and Steam’s store API for the same products with the market set to US. Xbox matched PlayStation to the cent on all six packs and all four ESO Plus terms. Steam matched on the packs too, but its 3- and 6-month ESO Plus subscriptions came back at $41.97 and $77.94 — 2 and 5 cents under the console price.

What surprised us: ZeniMax’s ESO Plus page says the whole Crown allotment of a term is delivered at purchase, which turns the 12-month membership into the cheapest Crowns on sale — 19,800 for $139.99, where the same Crowns in packs cost $147.97. A single month (1,650 for $14.99) undercuts the packs for that amount ($22.98) too. The 3- and 6-month terms do not.

What we did not check: Crown Store item prices (ZeniMax’s Crown Store showcase pages sit behind an age gate we did not pass, so the calculator asks you for the price you see in game), prices outside the US, ZeniMax’s own PC account store, the Epic Games Store version and Crown Crates. We did not buy anything.

ESO Crowns questions, answered

How much are Crowns in ESO?

In the US, before sales tax, on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam: 750 Crowns for $7.99, 1,500 Crowns for $14.99, 3,000 Crowns for $24.99, 5,500 Crowns for $39.99, 14,000 Crowns for $99.99, 21,000 Crowns for $149.99. That is 106.5¢ to 71.4¢ per 100 Crowns — roughly 0.7 to 1.1 cents per Crown. The three stores matched to the cent when we read them on 1 November 2026.

How much is 1,000 Crowns in USD?

$14.99: there is no 1,000-Crown pack, so the cheapest way is 1 × 1,500, which leaves 500 spare. Two 750 packs would cost $15.98. 2,000 Crowns cost $22.98 as 1 × 1,500 + 1 × 750.

What is the best value Crown pack in ESO?

The 14,000-Crown pack at $99.99: 71.4¢ per 100, or 140 Crowns per dollar. The 21,000 pack holds 1.5 times the Crowns for half a cent more than 1.5 times the price, so it is a hair worse (71.4¢) — buy it only if you want one checkout. The 5,500 pack (72.7¢) is almost as good, and the 750 pack is the worst at 106.5¢ — 49.2% more per Crown.

How many Crowns do you get with ESO Plus?

1,650 Crowns per month of membership: ZeniMax lists 1,650 for 1 month, 4,950 for 3 months, 9,900 for 6 months, 19,800 for 12 months, and says the “total Crown allotment will be delivered at the time of purchase” — a 12-month membership puts all 19,800 Crowns in your wallet on day one. US prices on PlayStation and Xbox: $14.99, $41.99, $77.99, $139.99; Steam charges $41.97 for 3 months and $77.94 for 6.

Is ESO Plus worth it just for the Crowns?

Only on two terms. Counted as Crowns alone, the 12-month membership costs 70.7¢ per 100 — cheaper than any pack — and one month ($14.99 for 1,650) beats the $14.99 pack of 1,500. The 3-month term (84.8¢ per 100) costs more per Crown than the 5,500 pack, and the 6-month term (78.8¢) more than the 14,000 pack. Everything else ESO Plus gives — DLC access, the Craft Bag, double bank space — comes on top.

How many Crowns do you get for $10, $20, $50 or $100?

$10 buys 750 Crowns in packs (1 × 750); $20 buys 1,500 Crowns in packs (1 × 1,500), or 1,650 Crowns as 1 month of ESO Plus; $50 buys 6,250 Crowns in packs (1 × 5,500 + 1 × 750); $100 buys 14,000 Crowns in packs (1 × 14,000). PlayStation, Xbox and Steam charge the same for packs.

Can you transfer Crowns between platforms in ESO?

No. ESO Support says “Crowns are not transferable between platforms. For example, if you purchase crowns for the Xbox, you will not have access to them on the PC and vice versa”, and that Customer Support cannot move Crowns or items between accounts, servers or platforms. Crowns do follow you between the North American and European megaservers on the same platform, but Crown Store items stay on the server where you bought them.

Are ESO Crowns cheaper on Steam or PC?

Not the packs: Steam sells the same six Crown packs at the same US prices as PlayStation and Xbox. Steam’s ESO Plus is a few cents cheaper on two terms — $41.97 instead of $41.99 for 3 months and $77.94 instead of $77.99 for 6 — and the same on the 1- and 12-month terms. We did not check the prices on ZeniMax’s own PC account store.

How much is 10,000 Crowns?

$79.97 as 1 × 5,500 + 1 × 3,000 + 1 × 1,500 — 80¢ per 100. A $99.99 pack of 14,000 costs $20.02 more for 4,000 extra Crowns. Six months of ESO Plus ($77.99) delivers 9,900.

Can I stack ESO Plus memberships to get more Crowns?

ESO Support says PlayStation players may not stack more than 2 years (24 months) of ESO Plus. Each term’s Crowns arrive when you buy it. The calculator adds at most one membership to a basket and tops up the rest with packs, so it never assumes more stacking than the rules allow.
