Worked examples: the Rewards Pass, the 500-pack trap, Xbox vs PlayStation and budgets

  1. A Rewards Pass (1,000 Silver)

Bungie Help says each Rewards Pass costs 1,000 Silver. The strict cheapest way to get it is 2 × 500 for $9.98 (1,000 Silver, 2 purchases) — one cent less than a single 1,100 pack at $9.99, which also leaves 100 Silver over. If you do not own the Triumphant Silver Bundle yet, the same $9.99 buys 1,700 Silver and an emote.

  2. 2,000 Silver

Cheapest: 4 × 500 for $19.96 (2,000 Silver, 4 purchases). One 2,300 pack is $19.99: $0.03 more, 300 more Silver and one checkout instead of 4. This is the 500-pack trap in miniature: the smallest pack is the worst rate, yet stacking it still edges out the next tiers by a few cents.

  3. 1,700 Silver on PlayStation vs Xbox

    PlayStation sells a 1,700 pack, so it is 1 × 1,700 for $14.99 (1,700 Silver, 1 purchase). Xbox does not: 4 × 500 for $19.96 (2,000 Silver, 4 purchases), or 1 × 2,300 for $19.99 (2,300 Silver, 1 purchase) — $4.97 more for the same Silver.

  4. 12,000 Silver on Xbox

Xbox has no 12,000 pack either, but it barely matters: 2 × 6,000 for $99.98 (12,000 Silver, 2 purchases), a cent less than PlayStation’s single pack at $99.99. The two biggest packs cost the same per Silver — $0.83 per 100.

  5. 10,000 Silver, with and without the bundles

    Packs only: 1 × 6,000 + 1 × 3,500 + 1 × 500 for $84.97 (10,000 Silver, 3 purchases). With both one-time bundles still unbought, the calculator’s fewer-checkouts search lands on 1 × 6,000 + 1 × 2,300 + 1 Triumphant bundle for $79.97 (10,000 Silver, 3 purchases) — $5.00 less.

  6. A $20 budget

On packs alone, $20 buys 2,300 Silver (1 × 2,300). If neither Triumphant bundle is on your account yet, 2 Triumphant bundles gives 3,400 Silver for $19.98 — 47.8% more Silver.

  7. A $75 budget

    $75 buys 8,800 Silver as 1 × 6,000 + 1 × 2,300 + 1 × 500 for $74.97, leaving $0.03 — $0.85 per 100 Silver.

  8. What is a 2,300-Silver balance worth?

It cost between $19.16 (at the 6,000-pack rate) and $22.95 (at the 500-pack rate) to buy. That is a purchase cost, not a cash value: Bungie does not refund or transfer Silver. (2,300 is our example.)

Things that change what Silver costs you, and where you can spend it

  • The 500 pack is the worst rate ($1.00 per 100) but only a few cents behind the 1,100 and 2,300 packs in absolute money, so a strict “cheapest” basket is often a stack of 500s. The calculator shows that basket, and beside it a tidier one found by charging 25¢ per checkout in the search — an assumption we label, not a fee anyone charges.
  • The two Triumphant bundles are the cheapest Silver on sale: 1,700 Silver for $9.99 ($0.59 per 100), 29.5% less than the best pack. Each includes an emote and Microsoft files both as Durable products, so each can be bought once. If you already own one, read the packs-only figure instead.
  • Silver is locked to the platform you bought it on. Bungie’s Silver guide says that with Cross Save on, Silver bought on the Active Account can only be used on the platform where it was bought, but items bought with Silver can be used on any platform. Spend PlayStation Silver while playing on PlayStation.
  • Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 do not share Silver: Bungie says PS4 and Xbox One still sell “Destiny Silver” for Destiny 1. Check that the listing says Destiny 2 before you pay.
  • Bungie does not refund or transfer Silver. If a platform refunds Silver you have already spent, Bungie’s guide says your balance goes negative and Eververse is closed to you until it is paid back. A purchase can take up to 30 seconds to show in game.
  • You cannot buy Silver or anything at Eververse until one character has finished the Guardian Rises quest or reached the Tower, per Bungie’s guide.
  • Xbox and PlayStation do not sell the same packs: the US Xbox catalogue had no 1,500 (+200) and no 10,000 (+2,000) pack on the day we checked. Every pack both sell cost the same to the cent.
  • Gift cards add store credit, not Silver. Bungie’s guide says third-party Silver cards and codes usually only add platform money, which you then spend on Silver in the store.

How the Silver calculator works

Sourced figures
The 7 pack sizes (base + bonus) and US prices come from the US PlayStation Store listings, checked to the cent against Microsoft’s US catalogue for the 5 packs Xbox sells. The Triumphant bundles come from both stores. The Rewards Pass price (1,000 Silver), the platform lock and the refund rules come from Bungie Help.
Silver → USD: the cheapest basket
Packs come in fixed sizes, so “what does this cost” means “which packs reach at least this much Silver for the least money”. The calculator runs an exact search over every combination of the packs your store sells (an unbounded knapsack, not “biggest pack first”), in steps of 100 Silver. On a tie it picks fewer purchases.
USD → Silver: the most for a budget
For a budget it finds the combination that gives the most Silver without going over, and shows what is left and the biggest single pack you could buy instead.
The one-time bundles
Each Triumphant bundle is tried as 0 or 1 purchase — never more — on top of the unlimited search, and the result is shown as its own column so you can ignore it if you own them.
What we assume
Prices are US prices before sales tax, with no sale running; we did not reach a checkout. The “fewer checkouts” basket charges 25¢ per extra purchase inside the search only — a tidiness rule we chose, not a fee — and the bundle column uses the same rule. We assume both bundles are still available to you unless you know otherwise. Example amounts, budgets and balances are numbers we picked to show the maths.

What we checked on 17 October 2026, and what we could not

We read every price in this tool on 17 October 2026. A search for “Destiny 2 Silver” on the US PlayStation Store returned 7 Silver packs (product codes ending VIRCUR000000000B to …I) and two Triumphant bundles; we then opened each pack’s own listing, whose title reads “2000 (+300 Bonus) Destiny 2 Silver” and so on, and whose data carries the base price in USD.

We work from Poland, so to rule out local pricing we also asked Microsoft’s store catalogue for “Destiny 2 Silver (Xbox)” with the market set to US. It holds the packs as 5 SKUs with a Purchase action — the same prices to the cent — and simply has no 1,500 (+200) or 10,000 (+2,000) SKU. We had expected the two stores to match exactly; they match on price, not on line-up.

The surprise was the two Triumphant bundles: 1,700 Silver for $9.99, 29.5% cheaper per Silver than the best regular pack. Microsoft files them as “Durable”, the regular packs as “Consumable” — which is how we know they are one per account rather than a better pack anyone can repeat.

What we could not check: Silver prices on Steam and the Epic Games Store (bought in game, priced by the buyer’s location), any country other than the US, and Eververse item prices, which Bungie rotates and does not publish outside the game. We did not buy anything.

Destiny 2 Silver questions, answered

How much is 1,000 Silver in Destiny 2?

$9.98 in the US as 2 × 500, or $9.99 as one 1,100 pack (1,000 + 100 bonus), which leaves 100 over. Valued at the best pack rate, 1,000 Silver cost $8.33; at the worst, $9.98.

How much are Destiny 2 Silver packs?

In the US, before sales tax: 500 Silver for $4.99, 1,100 Silver for $9.99, 1,700 Silver for $14.99, 2,300 Silver for $19.99, 3,500 Silver for $29.99, 6,000 Silver for $49.99, 12,000 Silver for $99.99. The US PlayStation Store listed all 7 on 17 October 2026; Microsoft’s US catalogue listed 5 at the same prices, without the 1,700 and 12,000 packs.

How much Silver is a Rewards Pass?

1,000 Silver, per Bungie Help’s Rewards Pass article. A pass can only be bought during its Season, unless you buy or upgrade to that Year’s Digital Deluxe Edition. In the US the cheapest 1,000 Silver is $9.98 (2 × 500).

How much is 1 Silver worth in USD?

Between 0.83¢ and 1¢, depending on the pack — 120 to 100.2 Silver per dollar. The one-time Triumphant bundles work out to 0.59¢. That is what Silver costs to buy; Bungie does not refund, transfer or cash out Silver.

How much Silver do you get for $10, $20, $50 or $100?

On PlayStation, $10 buys 1,100 Silver (1 × 1,100); $20 buys 2,300 Silver (1 × 2,300); $50 buys 6,000 Silver (1 × 6,000); $100 buys 12,000 Silver (1 × 12,000). If neither Triumphant bundle is on your account yet, $20 stretches to 3,400 Silver (2 Triumphant bundles).

What is the best value Silver pack?

Among the regular packs, the 6,000 pack at $49.99, by a hair: $0.83 per 100 Silver, level with the 12,000 pack at $99.99. The worst is the 500 pack at $1.00 — 19.8% more per Silver. Better than any pack: the two $9.99 Triumphant bundles with 1,700 Silver each, if you have not bought them.

What are the Triumphant Silver Bundles, and can I buy them twice?

Two $9.99 bundles on both stores — the Triumphant Silver Bundle (Top Rock emote) and the Triumphant Rewards Silver Bundle (Cheesy Cha-Cha emote) — each with 1,700 Silver (1,000 + 700 bonus). Microsoft lists both as Durable products, which are bought once, while the regular Silver packs are Consumable. So each bundle is a one-off; the calculator never counts more than one of each.

Is Destiny 2 Silver shared between PlayStation, Xbox and PC?

No. Bungie’s Silver guide says that with Cross Save, Silver bought on the Active Account can only be used on the platform where it was bought; items bought with that Silver can then be used on any platform. Silver on an inactive account stays there. Destiny 1 and Destiny 2 balances are separate too.

Can you get a refund on Destiny 2 Silver?

Bungie does not provide Silver refunds or transfers. If the store refunds Silver you have not spent, it is removed; if you had already spent it, your balance goes negative and you cannot buy Eververse items until it is repaid. Bungie warns that abusing refunds or chargebacks can lead to a ban.
