Xbox Gift Card Brazil: Which BRL Amount Do You Actually Need? (2026)

An Xbox gift card Brazil code adds reais to a Microsoft account set to Brazil — and only to one set to Brazil. Here is every BRL denomination from R$5 to R$200, exactly what each covers at 2026 Brazilian prices, and the two gaps that decide which card you should buy.

  • 13 BRL denominations, R$5 to R$200
  • Game Pass Ultimate is R$76,90 — so R$70 will not do it

An Xbox gift card Brazil code adds its face value in reais to your Microsoft account balance, and it will only redeem on an account whose country is already set to Brazil. A R$100 code becomes R$100 of balance. The only real question before you buy is which rung clears the price of the thing you want — and at 2026 Brazilian prices, two of the most popular amounts miss by less than R$7.

Our Brazilian Xbox gift cards run 13 amounts from R$5 to R$200 — a much finer ladder than the three or four values on a supermarket rack, which is what makes it possible to land on a price instead of over it. The ones that matter most: R$40, R$50, R$60, R$70, R$100 and R$200, plus small R$5R$30 rungs for closing a shortfall. All are delivered as a 25-character code by email.

The short answer

  • A BRL code is worth exactly its face value in reais — there is no conversion and no bonus.
  • Your Microsoft account country must already be Brazil. A USD, EUR or ARS code is refused, not converted.
  • Game Pass Ultimate is R$76,90/month, so R$100 covers a month and R$70 does not.
  • R$60 clears Premium (R$59,90) by ten centavos and PC Game Pass (R$59,99) by one.
  • Standard new releases run R$299–R$349, so plan on R$200 + R$100 for a full-price game.
  • Microsoft balance never expires, and codes stack — two cards simply add together.
  • Balance is region-locked and does not move with you if you change your account country.
  • Codes are single-use and bind to the first account that redeems them — only ever enter one at redeem.microsoft.com.

Physical racks in Brazil carry a handful of round numbers, usually R$50, R$100 and R$200. Digital codes are not limited that way, and the in-between rungs are the useful ones, because Brazilian Xbox prices almost never land on a round hundred.

Which card covers which Game Pass tier

Game Pass pricing in Brazil changed sharply in 2026. On 21 April 2026 Microsoft cut Ultimate from R$119,90 to R$76,90 a month — a drop of R$43,00, or about 36% — after heavy criticism of the September 2025 increase that had taken it from R$59,99 to R$119,90 in a single step. PC Game Pass came down from R$69,90 to R$59,99 at the same time. If you last bought a card when Ultimate was R$119,90, the arithmetic you remember is out of date, and in your favour.

What each amount buys in games

Brazilian Xbox store prices sit on their own real-denominated tier rather than a straight conversion from dollars. Standard full-price releases currently sit at R$299 to R$349, with older and mid-tier titles well below that and deep seasonal discounts common.

R$149 (mid-tier)R$100 + R$50R$150R$1,00
R$99 (indie or sale)R$100R$100R$1,00

The pattern is not a coincidence: Brazilian store prices overwhelmingly end in 9, so the round card amounts tend to clear them with about a real to spare. That leftover real is not wasted — Microsoft balance has no expiry, so it simply sits there and counts toward the next purchase.

The Brazil rule: why a US code will not redeem

This is the single most common reason a code fails, and it is worth understanding before you spend anything. Microsoft issues Xbox gift cards as separate, currency-and-country-locked codes. A Brazilian BRL code redeems only onto a Microsoft account whose country is set to Brazil. It does not matter where you physically are — someone in Lisbon or Miami with a Brazil-set Microsoft account can redeem a BRL code perfectly well — but it matters enormously what the account says.

To check yours, sign in at account.microsoft.com and look at your profile country/region. If it says Brasil, a BRL code will work. If it says anything else, buy a card for that region instead — we cover the wider picture of which brands lock to which markets in our guide to gift card regions and country locks, and the mechanics of switching consoles between stores in our guide to changing your account region.

How to redeem an Xbox gift card in Brazil

Brazilian Xbox codes are 25 characters, normally shown as five groups of five. You never need to type the hyphens. There are three official places to enter one, and they all credit the same Microsoft account balance.

  1. On the web (fastest)
Go to redeem.microsoft.com and sign in with the Microsoft account you use on Xbox. Enter the 25-character code, select Next, then Confirm. The balance appears immediately.
  2. On an Xbox console
Press the Xbox button to open the guide and select Store. Press the View button to open the side menu, select Redeem, enter the 25-character code and follow the prompts.
  3. In the Microsoft Store app on Windows
Open the Microsoft Store, select your account picture in the top right, choose “Redeem code or gift cards”, enter the code and select Next.
  4. On a phone
The Xbox mobile app cannot redeem codes. Open redeem.microsoft.com in your mobile browser instead, signed in with the same Microsoft account you use on Xbox.

Once redeemed, the balance is not tied to a specific game or subscription — it is general Microsoft account credit, spendable on anything in the Brazilian store. If you want the full walkthrough including how to check what is left, see our guide to redeeming an Xbox gift card and checking your balance.

The subscription trap nobody mentions

Here is the part that catches people out, and it is rarely stated on the product page anywhere. You can absolutely pay for Game Pass with Microsoft account balance from a gift card. But because Game Pass bills on a recurring cycle, Microsoft will normally still ask you to attach a backup payment method — a card or PayPal — even when your balance covers the whole month. Having R$100 sitting in the account does not exempt you from the requirement.

For one-off purchases — a game, DLC, in-game currency — none of this applies. Balance is spent directly with no payment method required at all.

If you are stacking or converting existing subscription time, our guide to redeeming, stacking and converting Xbox Game Pass codes covers the conversion rules in detail.

Never change your region with balance left

Microsoft account balance is region-locked in both directions. It is not just that a foreign code will not redeem onto a Brazilian account — it is also that reais already sitting in your balance will not follow you if you later change your account country. Microsoft does not convert balance between currencies and does not transfer it between accounts or regions.

Five mistakes that waste a BRL code

  1. Buying R$70 for Game Pass Ultimate. It is R$6,90 short at R$76,90 a month. R$100 is the card that works.
  2. Buying R$40 for Essential. R$43,90 needs R$50; R$40 leaves you R$3,90 short and shopping again.
  3. Redeeming onto an account that is not set to Brazil. The code simply refuses, and Microsoft cannot re-region it afterwards.
  4. Assuming balance covers a subscription outright. It does cover the cost, but Microsoft still asks for a backup payment method on recurring plans.
  5. Changing account region with reais left over. The balance does not travel and cannot be recovered.

Xbox gift card Brazil FAQs

Can I use a US Xbox gift card in Brazil?
No. Microsoft issues Xbox gift cards as separate country-and-currency-locked codes, and a USD code cannot be redeemed onto a Microsoft account set to Brazil. It is not converted at an exchange rate — it is simply refused. Microsoft support cannot change a card’s region or reissue it in reais, so if a relative abroad wants to buy you Xbox credit, ask them for a Brazilian BRL card specifically.
How much is Xbox Game Pass in Brazil in 2026?
As of the 21 April 2026 price cut, Game Pass Essential is R$43,90 a month, Premium is R$59,90, PC Game Pass is R$59,99 and Ultimate is R$76,90. Ultimate had been R$119,90 since September 2025, so the current price is roughly 36% lower than it was for most of the past year.
Do Xbox gift cards expire in Brazil?
No. Unredeemed Xbox gift card codes have no expiry date, and once redeemed the balance sits in your Microsoft account indefinitely with no inactivity fee. A card bought months ahead for a birthday or Christmas is safe.
Can I combine two Xbox gift cards?
Yes, as long as both are BRL codes redeemed onto the same Brazil-set account. The balances simply add together into one total, which is how you cover a R$299 game with a R$200 and a R$100 card. There is no limit that matters at these amounts.
Do I need to be in Brazil to use a Brazilian Xbox gift card?
No. What matters is the country on the Microsoft account, not where you are sitting. A Brazil-set account redeems BRL codes from anywhere in the world. If your account is set to another country, being physically in Brazil will not help.
Can I pay for Game Pass with an Xbox gift card in Brazil?
Yes. Redeem the card, then buy the subscription with your Microsoft balance. Because Game Pass bills on a recurring cycle, Microsoft will usually still ask you to add a backup card or PayPal account even when your balance covers the full month. Complete the purchase, then switch off automatic renewal — the month you paid for still runs, and you will not be charged again.
What is the smallest Xbox gift card I can buy in Brazil?
R$5 is the smallest digital rung. It is not much on its own, but it is the practical way to close a small gap — for example topping up an account that is a few reais short of a Game Pass renewal or a discounted game, without having to buy another R$50 card.
