The publisher’s copy further down is written in the game’s own propaganda voice. This is the plain version: how the game actually plays, how Warbonds and Super Credits work, what the PSN change of 2024 means for you, and why this game is not sold in every country.

What kind of game this is
A third-person co-op shooter for up to four players, built by Arrowhead Game Studios. Each mission drops your squad onto a hostile planet with objectives to complete and an extraction to reach, and the tools that decide how it goes are stratagems — airstrikes, turrets, support weapons and reinforcements called down with a short sequence of directional inputs, sometimes while something is chewing on you.
Two things make it unlike other shooters. Friendly fire is always on, so an airstrike thrown carelessly kills your squad as readily as the enemy, and that is half the comedy. And every mission feeds one shared Galactic War: the whole player base pushes the front lines across the map together, and planets are won or lost by the community rather than by you alone.

Warbonds, Super Credits and what you pay for after buying
Weapons, armour and cosmetics come in Warbonds — pages of unlocks you work through with medals earned in play. One Warbond is free with the game; the premium ones are bought with Super Credits, which you can find on missions as well as buy. A Warbond you own never expires, so there is no season to keep up with and nothing is lost by taking a month off.
Stratagems, the tools that define a loadout, are not sold at all: they are unlocked with Requisition earned in missions as you level. You can play every mission type and difficulty without spending anything beyond the game, and players who never buy Super Credits still collect them steadily by exploring.
Before you buy: accounts and countries
A PlayStation Network account is optional. In May 2024 Sony announced that PC players would have to link one, and withdrew the requirement within days after the response from players. Linking is still available and adds PlayStation features, but you can play without it.
The game is not sold everywhere. When that requirement was announced, Helldivers 2 was withdrawn from sale in the countries PlayStation Network does not serve — around 177 of them — and that restriction remained after the requirement itself was dropped. This page only shows a price if the key can be sold and activated where you are.
When Helldivers 2 goes on sale
Helldivers 2 is a live game that has kept selling steadily since launch, and its discounts are fewer and shallower than those on Sony’s single-player back catalogue. There is also no bad time to join: the war does not reset, and nothing from earlier Warbonds is withdrawn.
We never publish a sale before it starts: dates reach us through our distribution channel under embargo and are the publisher’s to announce. When a PlayStation sale goes live, the PlayStation page shows a countdown and the deepest discount in it.

Helldivers 2: questions before you enlist
Can I play Helldivers 2 solo?
Yes. Every mission can be played alone, and lower difficulties are comfortable solo. It is designed for four, though, and higher difficulties lean heavily on a squad — matchmaking or quickplay will fill the gaps if you do not have friends online.
Is there cross-play with PlayStation and Xbox?
Yes. PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players can all play together, and cross-play can be switched off in the settings if you want to stay on your own platform.
Does my progress carry over between platforms?
No. Progress, unlocks and Super Credits stay on the platform you play on. If you already play on a console, a PC copy starts from the beginning.
Do I need a PlayStation Network account?
No. Sony dropped the planned PSN requirement for PC in May 2024. Linking an account is optional.
Is it pay-to-win?
No. Stratagems are unlocked with Requisition earned in missions and cannot be bought. Premium Warbonds add weapons and armour, but they are bought with Super Credits that you also find while playing, and a Warbond never expires once you own it.
Does it need an internet connection?
Yes. Helldivers 2 is always online, including when you play alone.
Why is Helldivers 2 not sold in my country?
It was withdrawn from sale in the countries PlayStation Network does not serve in 2024, and that restriction still applies. If you can see a price on this page, the key is licensed for your country.
Can I turn friendly fire off?
No. Friendly fire is always on, in every mode and at every difficulty.
Will it run on my PC?
The publisher’s specifications are further down this page — the Requirements link in the section bar jumps straight to them. The minimum lists 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti or RX 470; the game needs about 100 GB of storage, and an SSD is recommended.
How quickly do I get the key, and is it official?
Immediately after payment, on screen and by email. Every key comes through our authorised distribution channel and activates permanently on your own Steam account.
