Improved DualSense Edge support for Ghost of Tsushima DIRECTOR'S CUT
- Improved support for the DualSense Edge controller.

The publisher’s description further down sets the scene: Tsushima, 1274, and Jin Sakai against the Mongol invasion. This covers what a buyer still needs to know — what “Director’s Cut” actually means on PC, which parts need a PlayStation Network account and which never do, when the Iki Island expansion is best played, and when the game tends to be discounted.

It is the complete game, and it is the only version sold on PC. Ghost of Tsushima launched on PlayStation 4 in 2020; the Director’s Cut added the Iki Island story expansion a year later, and the online co-op mode Legends came as a free update in between. The PC release, which arrived on 16 May 2024, bundles all three — there is no cut-down edition to avoid and no expansion to buy separately.
The game itself is an open-world samurai story that is unusually easy to recommend to people who do not usually play open-world games. There are no waypoint markers on screen: the wind blows towards your objective. Combat rewards patience and stance-reading over button-mashing, and stealth — the “Ghost” of the title — is always an option but rarely forced.
The port is by Nixxes Software, working with Sucker Punch. Frame rates are unlocked; NVIDIA DLSS 3, AMD FSR 3 and Intel XeSS are all available for upscaling and frame generation, with NVIDIA Reflex and DLAA on supported cards; and ultrawide 21:9 and 32:9 are supported, along with 48:9 across three monitors.
One detail is easy to miss. Because cutscenes are rendered in real time rather than played back as video, the Japanese voice track is lip-synced instead of following the English performance. Mouse and keyboard are fully rebindable, and a wired DualSense controller adds haptic feedback and adaptive-trigger resistance on the bow.
The expansion unlocks as soon as Act 2 begins, when Jin reaches the Toyotama region: a tale called “Journey into the Past” appears on the map. You can start it then, but it is better saved for later. Once you sail for Iki you cannot return to Tsushima until most of the expansion’s story is done, and characters there speak to Jin as someone who has already been through the main campaign.
Iki Island is also a story about Jin’s childhood and his father, and it lands harder once you know how the main game ends. The practical advice is simple: finish the main story first, then sail. Your gear, skills and progress carry over either way.
A PlayStation Network account is needed for exactly one thing: Legends, the online co-op mode, and the PlayStation overlay that comes with it. The single-player campaign and Iki Island play without one. Linking accounts on Steam also unlocks two items early — the Archery Master’s Attire and the Charm of Canine Recruitment — but nothing in the story depends on them.
Since the update of October 2025, Legends is installed as a separate, free add-on on Steam rather than as part of the main game, which is what let the single-player game be certified Steam Deck Verified. Owning the Director’s Cut entitles you to it; you simply add it from the game’s Steam page if you want to play online.
Ghost of Tsushima is now a couple of years into its PC life, and games at that stage are discounted more often and more deeply than Sony’s newest releases. The waves follow the same shape every year.
We never publish a sale before it starts: dates reach us through our distribution channel under embargo and are the publisher’s to announce. The moment a PlayStation sale goes live, the PlayStation page shows a countdown and the deepest discount in it.
Often the first reasonable cut of the year on the PlayStation back catalogue.
One of the two big windows of the year, and usually a deep one for titles of this age.
The most dependable discount of the year across the whole catalogue.
The other big window. Worth comparing with Black Friday rather than assuming either is lower.
PlayStation promotions discount a group of titles together — the moment to pick up another of Sony’s single-player games alongside this one.

Yes, and more. It contains the complete main story, the Iki Island expansion and the Legends online co-op mode. It is the only edition sold on PC, so there is nothing else to buy.
Only for Legends, the online co-op mode. The main story and Iki Island play without an account. Linking one on Steam adds two early unlocks, the Archery Master’s Attire and the Charm of Canine Recruitment.
From the start of Act 2, once Jin reaches Toyotama. It is better played after the main story: you cannot return to Tsushima until most of the expansion is finished, and its story assumes you know how the main game ends.
Yes. Legends supports cross-play with PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, for up to four players. On Steam it is installed as a free add-on that comes with the Director’s Cut, and it needs a PlayStation Network account.
Yes. The Japanese voice track can be combined with subtitles, and on PC the cutscenes are lip-synced to the Japanese dialogue. Kurosawa Mode adds a black-and-white film look on top, if you want the full effect.
Roughly 25 hours for the main story, and 40 or more if you follow the side tales and explore. Iki Island adds around ten hours.
Yes. The single-player game is Steam Deck Verified since the October 2025 update, which also added a graphics preset built for the Deck.
No. Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone follow-up set more than three centuries later, with a new protagonist. Each story stands on its own, though playing Tsushima first gives you the world it grew from.
The publisher’s own specifications are further down this page — the Requirements link in the section bar jumps straight to them. The minimum targets 720p at 30 frames per second on a GTX 960 4 GB or RX 5500 XT with 8 GB of RAM; the recommended tier targets 1080p at 60 on an RTX 2060 or RX 5600 XT with 16 GB. The game takes about 75 GB, and an SSD is recommended.
