Your PlayStation Network (PSN) wallet holds the funds you redeem from PlayStation gift cards and the credit you receive as PlayStation Store refunds, top-ups, or PlayStation Stars rewards. Keeping track of your PSN balance is the easiest way to plan a purchase and avoid declined transactions at checkout. This 2026 guide shows you how to check your balance on every device PlayStation supports, plus what to do if a gift card code refuses to redeem.
PlayStation wallet overview
There are essentially three kinds of money you can have on a PlayStation Network account:
- Wallet funds — the main prepaid balance, topped up via PlayStation gift cards, credit/debit card top-ups, or PayPal.
- PlayStation Store credit — refunds, returned content, or promotional credit. Cannot be withdrawn but works like wallet funds at checkout.
- Subscription credit — automatic monthly top-up from a registered payment method (off by default).

Platform comparison
Every device shows the same balance, but the experience differs. Use the table below to pick the right option for your situation:
PSN code not working? Try these fixes
- Region mismatch: A US code will not redeem on a UK or EU account. Confirm the region on your account before redeeming. You can find it under Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Account Information → Country/Region.
- Typos and spaces: Voucher codes are alphanumeric, 12 characters long, all uppercase. Copy/paste from the email Virtwave sends you to avoid mistakes.
- The code has been redeemed: Check your transaction history first. If the credit is there, the code is no longer valid.
- Account limits: A single PSN account can only hold USD 2,000 / EUR 2,000 (or local equivalent) in wallet funds at any time. If you are at the cap, spend some funds before redeeming a new card.
- Maintenance window: During major PlayStation Network maintenance (announced on the PSN status page), redemptions can be paused. Try again later.
